Career Summary

Australian sprinter Stuart O'Grady returns to California having recovered after a season of injuries. In 2006, he broke several ribs in an early season race and then fractured a vertebra in the Tour de France. Despite his pain, he managed to finish the race and came in third in the final sprint in Paris.

He has been in contention for the green sprinters jersey at the Tour de France, finishing second overall in the sprint classification four times and third once. He is a former Australian national road champion.

He started his cycling career on the track and in 2004, won an Olympic gold medal in the Madison (with Graeme Brown), and in 1995 was on the winning team pursuit team for the worlds.

O'Grady established and funds an Australian junior cycling development team, CSC Team O'Grady.
