Career Summary
In his role as domestique, American Christian Vandevelde has ridden for two of the Tour de France teams that saw Lance Armstrong to victory. During the 2006 Tour de France, he rode support for team captains Carlos Sastre and Frank Schleck.Vandevelde has recently had the opportunity to demonstrate his own talents. In 2006, he won the Tour of Luxembourg and in 2005, he won the mountains classification at the Benelux Tour.
Taking a page from his father John (Olympic an national track champion), Vandevelde got his start on the track. In 1997, he won the individual pursuit national track championships and was named USA Cycling Male Athlete of the Year and USCF Senior Male Athlete of the Year.
