Career Summary
One of the world's most recognized cyclists, George Hincapie kicked off 2006 in style by wearing the Amgen Tour of California race leader's jersey after wining stage 2. He also won stage 5 and finished just shy of the podium in fourth overall. His finest moment in 2006 came when he thrilled a hometown crowd by winning the USA Cycling National Road Race Championships in Greenville, SC.Ten-time Tour de France veteran, Hincapie is the only team member to ride all seven winning Tours with Lance Armstrong. He demonstrated his ownability to win at the Tour when in 2005, he broke away to win the mountainous stage 15. An accomplished classics racer, he has finished second in Paris-Roubaix, the highest for an American. He is the only American to win Gent-Wevelgem and Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.
