Career Summary
Defending world road champion and Italian national road champion Paolo Bettini is one of the most accomplished cyclists in the world. He has won stages in all of the three Grand Tours (Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana) and has won the overall points classification at the Giro d’Italia in 2005 and 2006. He is also an Olympic gold medalist winning the 2004 Olympic road race in Athens and three-time winner of the UCI World Cup series.He excels in tough races, is a powerful sprinter, and a tactically skilled cyclist. He has won Liege- Bastogne-Liege twice, Milan-Sanremo, Tirreno- Adriatico, and Clasica de San Sebastian.
Bettini is also a dedicated support rider and has helped teammates like Tom Boonen, Mario Cipollini, and Richard Virenque win stages and races.
