Career Summary
Usually playing a support role for his Rabobank teammates, Dutchman Mathew Hayman surprised many--including himself--by winning the 2006 Commonwealth Games road race.Considered a “rouleur”, Hayman is not really a climber or a sprinter but can power along for hours in tough windy conditions, typically towing his teammates to stage wins.
He has also won the Sachsen Tour and the Mallorca Challenge. In 1999, he won the U23 Dutch National Road Championships, making him the first foreigner to take the title.
