Career Summary

One of cycling' s most talented riders, Michael Rasmussen has performed as a world-class cyclist both on and off the road. On the road, he has won the coveted Polka-Dot mountains Jersey at the Tour de France in 2005 and 2006.

His mountain bike career has been equally notable and in 1999, he won the World Mountain Bike Championships. He has also won several other mountain bike races including the Danish National Championships and the Tour of Spain MTB.

He is known for his attention to weight and is said to have the lowest body fat percentage of any rider. His nickname is “Chicken” or “Chicken Legs.”

He comes to California after recovering from surgery to repair the base of his left hip bone that he broke in a crash at the 2006 Giro dell' Emilia.
