Career Summary

The youngest competitor at the Amgen Tour of California, Tejay Van Garderen put up solid results in the European peloton as a junior with several podium finishes in top international events in 2005 and 2006. Now a U23, Van Garderen hopes that success continues.

Tejay was introduced to the sport by his father and became a competitive mountain biker when he was just nine years old. Later, the Bozeman, Mont. native gravitated towards road cycling and is now on the path to becoming one of the next notable Americans in road cycling.
