Damon Castillo Band To Perform
DAMON CASTILLO BAND TO PERFORM AT AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA
Los Angeles, CA – Well-known recording artists, the Damon Castillo Band, have been signed to perform on the “Main Stage” at the Amgen Tour of California Lifestyle Festival presented by Health Net throughout the upcoming eight-day cycling road race beginning February 18th. The California-based, five-piece band will perform at each of the tour’s progressive stops on the 650-mile course from San Francisco to Long Beach. More than 1.3 million spectators attended a portion of the inaugural event in 2006.
All five members of the Damon Castillo Band hail from the Golden State, and together create a sound that is uniquely California, rock, funk, and soul. They have a massive West Coast following that thrives on the band’s distinctive sound and dynamic live performances, which include a horn section, keyboard, drums, bass and Damon Castillo on vocals and masterful guitar.
On being the headlining band for crowds that reach into the thousands at each tour stop Damon says, “One of the things I’m excited about, besides the spectacle of it all, is being part of the biggest sporting event in California. It’s great to have something like this running through your home town (San Luis Obispo) and something to be proud of; it’s history in the making.”
The band is taking a brief respite from recording their next 13-track album with Grammy-Award-winning music producer, Ross Hogarth, to join the Amgen Tour of California. After the success of their acoustic EP, Revolving Door, fans are eagerly awaiting this next installation of music, which Damon describes as, “a more distilled version of their band sound,” “autobiographical,” and a “statement” among “this day of manufactured music.” Reflecting the very reason their fans flock to their live shows, Damon sums up their new songs and the sound of the next album, “It’s not the homogenized, layered, production where you can’t hear the musicians. You will be able to hear real musicians playing real tunes.”
