Interesting Facts

Not many professional cyclists have a resume like Stuart O'Grady, as he has won stages in Grand Tours and consistently placed well in top tier races throughout his long career. He started the sport in track cycling, and his first major result was his silver medal in the Men's Team Pursuit (4000m) of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. In the 2007 Tour de France, O'Grady was forced to abandon on Stage 8 after crashing on a descent and fracturing five ribs, his right shoulder blade, right collar bone, three vertebrae and puncturing his right lung. He has recovered from this horrendous set back, posting three stage wins at the Tour Down Under already this season. O'Grady has also set up and financially supports an Australian junior cycling development team, CSC Team O'Grady.
