Interesting Facts

Following a sensational 2001 season as a U-23 rider, which included five victories plus the Spanish Time-Trial Championships, Iker Camaño started racing in the professional peloton with Phonak. He made a name for himself as one of the top newcomers after strong showings at both the Clásica de Alcobendas and the Euskal Bizikleta. The following year he worked for team leader Iban Mayo, who was his teammate again in 2007 on the Saunier Duval-Prodir squad. Camaño is a good climber and a great time-trialist, and he is a dependable domestique for his teammates in the big tours.
