Known as the “Gateway to the Sierra,” Clovis has maintained the same small town community pride that was first envisioned by its founders. Although the population has swelled to 100,000, traditional community events endure including the annual Rodeo Celebration, Big Hat Days and weekly farmer’s markets. Affordable homes, nationally recognized schools and being one of the safest cities in the San Joaquin Valley make Clovis one of the best living environments in California.
"On behalf of the City of Clovis, I am proud to welcome the 2009 Amgen Tour of California. We are very pleased to host this event, and look forward to working with Amgen officials to make the Clovis finish stage a memorable and exciting one. The City of Clovis is honored to be part of this world-class sporting event."
— Mayor Bob Whalen
