Thor Hushovd Shines in Stage 3, while Leipheimer Keeps the Leader's Jersey

Stage 3 Results | Video | Press Release We finally got a thrilling sprint finish at this year's Amgen Tour of California on Stage 3, sponsored by Fly V Australia. The day began in San Jose and shortly after the start, a four-man break – Jeff Louder (BMC), Bradley White (OUCH), Bauke Mollema (Rabobank) and Brian Vandborg (Liquigas) – jetted before the first KOM climb on Sierra Road (category 1). The break managed to stick until reaching the finishing circuit in Modesto when Louder launched a desperate attack in an effort to stave off the inevitable. Mollema was the only one able to stick with him, but their fate was doomed as the teams of the hungry sprinters wanted their day. The newly formed Cervelo Test Team squad executed to perfection putting three men at the front with Thor Hushovd snatching the golden ring in the pack gallop. With the peloton crossing the line all in the same time, Levi Leipheimer (Astana) retains the yellow jersey as there were no changes at the top of the General Classification.
