Interesting Facts

"Rubiera's first big pro win came in 1997 with a stage victory at the Giro d'Italia. As a domestique on the famed U.S. Postal/Discovery Channel teams, "Chechu" was a faithful assistant to Lance Armstrong in the mountains of the Tour de France. Impressively, he earned an engineering degree in 2004 while still racing full time. He wears a Santina and a Santa Gema medallion around his neck to protect against falls, and Virgin of Covadonga on his handlebars."
