Interesting Facts

Gesink, a two-time former Dutch national junior TT Champion, joined the Rabobank Continental Team in 2006, only to transfer to the ProTeam a year later. The early switch was a result of his fast development demonstration of his remarkable climbing abilities. His stellar 2008 season included a 7th Overall finish at the Vuelta a Espana, as well as Best Young Rider Classification overall wins at both the Amgen Tour of California and Paris-Nice. Gesink will ride on the Rabobank squad until the year 2012, which means he has signed on for a longer time period than the average rider.
