BALDY, CA 91759 San Antonio Peak, known to locals as Mount Baldy because of the absence of trees is the highest point (el. 10,064ft) in the San Gabriel Mountains, just north of Los Angeles. Mount Baldy lies on the boundary between Angeles National Forest and San Bernardino Forest and is 37 miles Northeast of the downtown Los Angeles skyline. Mount Baldy is a popular summer destination for day-hiking and camping with spectacular views of the Los Angeles Basin. The road from Baldy Village to the ski lifts is also popular with local cyclists as it provides a challenging climb of over 2,000 vertical feet in just 4 miles. During the winter, Mt. Baldy receives an average of 170 inches of snow annually and is home to a family owned and operated ski resort with over 800 acres of skiable terrain and 2,100 ft of vertical drop. |
