About

Team Garmin-Barracuda, a pro American team dedicated to promoting ethical sporting and developing the next generation of cycling champions, was originally founded as a development squad by CEO Jonathan Vaughters. Over the years the team has evolved from a group of promising U.S. riders to one of the top teams in the pro peloton, all while staying true to its roots.

The team earned its first grand tour stage win with a team time trial victory in the 2008 Giro d’Italia, putting American Christian Vande Velde in the famed pink leader’s jersey. Their success has increased since then and 2011 was a banner year, with the team winning the Team Classification and four stages at the Tour de France (including the Team Time Trial) and holding the yellow jersey for several stages. The team also won the 2011 edition of monument Paris-Roubaix and has kicked of 2012 with a win in the Team Time Trial at the Tour of Qatar.

The team, which raced in the Amgen Tour of California since its inception, has become a perennial contender as well as a key animator on the road. They’ve been on the final podium in nearly all editions with David Zabriskie coming second in 2009 and 2010, Tom Danielson coming in third in 2011 and David Millar and Christian Vande Velde second and third respectively in 2008. They also won the team classification in 2008, 2010 and 2011.

Team Garmin-Barracuda is owned and managed by Slipstream Sports, LLC, a sports management company.
