John Novitsky

John Novitsky is 51 years old, married, and the father of two kids. He's grateful that his family supports his bike racing hobby (addiction? affliction?), and allowed him to take the time to do this race. He lives and works in the heart of Silicon Valley, up in Northern California (Previously, we worked at Intel Corp on the 386, 486 and Pentium processors, and has done high tech startups since then.) He has been racing bicycles for 7 years, for the last three years as a member of the VOS Racing team. He's coached by Dr. Max Testa, who also coaches a couple dozen of the pro racers in this year's Tour of California. He won the US national time trial championship for men aged 50-54 in both 2008 and 2009. He won the Northern California and Nevada district time trial championship for M50-54 in both 2008 and 2009. He won the SoCal district time trial championship in 2008 (but lives out of district). He won the Nevada senior games road race and time trial, M50-54, in 2008. He won one gold medal and one silver medal at the US national senior games (aka senior Olympics) in time trial in 2009; he also placed top 10 in both road races. He's raced twice at the world masters championships (2008, 2009) wearing the "stars and stripes" as the current US national champion, and placed in the top 10 both times. In 2010, he won a gold medal at the NorCal senior games, in time trial M50-54. He's old enough to be the father of many of the pro racers, but is eager to test his legs against, and to learn from, the best pro racers in the world.

Craig Zimmerman

My name is Craig Zimmerman and I am 45 years old. I have been competing as an amateur cyclist for more than 20 years. I live in Santa Barbara with my wife Amy and our two kids Charlie (15) and Maisie (13). I am President of The Towbes Group, Inc., a 50 year old real estate development company. The picture attached is of me and my wife Amy after I finished the AMGEN Time Trial last year. My whole family has been a huge supporter of my bicycle racing and I can't say enough about how lucky I am to have such wonderful fans! I couldn't do it without them. The reason I am coming back to do the AMGEN Time Trial is simple. It's analogous to being a basketball player and getting to play Michael Jordan; or a hockey player and skating with Gretzky; or a round of golf with Tiger. It's the opportunity of a lifetime.
