Interesting Facts

Ben grew up racing and riding in California with his twin brother Andy, who retired from pro cycling in 2003. He started with BMX racing, then moved to mountain bikes, and then when he went to college in Santa Cruz in 1996 he discovered the strong cyclocross scene there was exactly what he needed to reinvigorate his competitive drive. Ben made the US National Team for cyclocross 3 years later, racing at the 2000 World Championships. He soon started road racing for training and fitness, but found fast progression through the ranks and was racing at a national level almost immediately. He studied economics and environmental studies at UC Santa Cruz, enjoys gardening and kite boarding, and his favorite race is the USA Pro Championhips Road Race.
