Interesting Facts

The year 2008 will mark Cañada's 13th season as a professional rider. He entered the professional peloton as part of the ONCE squad when he was 21 years old. After taking five overall victories and the best young rider jersey in the Tour de France, he signed with Mapei to be a team leader, but has been affected by an endless succession physical problems since then that have not allowed him to show his true capabilities. He's been on the Saunier Duval squad since 2004, and in 2007 his peak performances were in the US, where he placed 3rd overall in the Tour de Georgia and 4th overall in the Tour of Missouri. Watch for him to be supported as a team leader in races throughout the 2008 season.
