AboutThe Bontrager Cycling Team was created in 2009 with the vision and mission to develop the next generation of elite cyclists. World-renowned Belgian cycling champion and GrandTour veteran Axel Merckx has led the team since its inception. Under his leadership, the team has consistently achieved its initial mission of developing riders for the WorldTour level, as well as going above and beyond the expectations of a development team. Eleven riders have advanced to the WorldTour to date, including Olympian and five-time world champion Taylor Phinney, former American champion Ben King, British national time trial champion Alex Dowsett, and most recently, Americans Joe Dombrowski and Ian Boswell.
With title sponsor Bontrager at the helm, the team is equipped with the highest quality bicycle components, accessories, and apparel, all of which exude exceptional design philosophy, high performance, and usability. The team is privileged to train and race on Trek Bicycles for the 2013 season, specifically the Trek Domane 6.9 Team Issue, Trek Madone 7.9 SSL Team Issue, and the Trek Speed Concept 9.9 SL. Trek believes the bicycle can be a simple solution to many of the world's most complex problems, and is committed to breaking down the barriers that prevent people from using bicycles more often for transportation, recreation, and inspiration. Both Trek and Bontrager are dedicated to bringing a greater visibility to cycling and the future of the sport.
Now in it's fifth season, the Bontrager Cycling Team looks forward to returning to the biggest cycling race in America – the AMGEN Tour California.
