2012 Highlights
AboutThe Vacansoleil-DCM team of The Netherlands debuted in 2009 and has grown to UCI World Tour for 2013. Led by standout climber Johnny Hoogerland, a former Tour de France KOM jersey bearer and Argentina-born Spaniard Juan Antonio Flecha, a Tour de France stage winner, Vacansoleil-DCM is a team built for one-day races and stage wins. The team, however, does have several strong general classification riders, including Thomas De Gendt, a former Tour of Italy stage wins; Lieuwe Westra, the Dutch National Time Trial Champion and 2nd place finisher at last year's Paris-Nice and 2nd at Tour of Belgium; Tomasz Marczynski, the 2011 Polish National Time Trial and Road Champion; and Wout Poels, a young and up and coming climber. The team also features several good sprinters including Boy van Poppel and Kenny van Hammel, a former elite track rider. |
