Davis has been called “the most bicycle friendly community in the country”. Bike lanes, bicycle traffic signals and scenic trails permeate the town. Home to a world class university celebrating its centennial anniversary this year, Davis still maintains its small-town style. The quaint downtown features unique shops, outstanding restaurants, art galleries and sidewalk cafes. In addition to bicycles on the tree-lined streets, you will also see red double-decker London buses and electric cars. Davis is an easy stop on Highway 80 plus visitors can bring their bicycles on the popular Capitol Corridor AMTRAK route which stops downtown. From Davis, it’s easy to reach Sacramento, Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. A rich array of entertainment can always be found at our festivals, theatres and the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at U.C. Davis. The City of Davis is proud to be chosen as a host city for the 2009 AMGEN Tour of California. We’ve had thousands of citizens and school children lining our streets to cheer the Tour riders during the last two years.
