Street Closure Information

PLAN AHEAD FOR ATOC TRAFFIC

While residents and visitors of Seaside are highly encouraged to come and watch the race, it is a good idea to remember that traffic will be heavy so a little planning will go a long way. Here’s what will be happening on Seaside Streets on Thursday, February 21, 2008:

Road Closures
On race day at 4 a.m., Canyon Del Rey (Hwy 218) will be closed from Sonoma to Hilby. At 9 a.m., Harcourt Avenue will close and traffic will be allowed to travel north and south along Fremont Blvd., but east-west traffic will not be able to cross Fremont.

At 9:45 a.m., all side streets that lead into Canyon Del Rey, Del Monte and Broadway will be shut down; eastbound and northbound traffic will continue along Fremont.

Detours and Alternate Routes
At 9:30 a.m., a detour point will be set up at Fremont and Broadway to direct southbound traffic up Broadway, down Noche Buena, and then down Hilby to put drivers back onto Fremont where they can go north or south. A detour point will also be set up at La Salle and Del Monte to direct drivers to continue along either Del Monte as far as Contra Costa, or to enter Sand City.

As an alternative, drivers can turn onto Fremont and follow the Fremont detour signs until they get to Monterey. There will be a detour at Contra Costa and Del Monte to prevent drivers from entering the race route at Broadway and redirect them to an alternative route.

Reopening Times
All streets, with the exception of Canyon Del Rey from Sonoma to Hilby and Harcourt from Hillsdale to Canyon Del Rey, will be re-opened and all “NO PARKING” signs will be picked up once the riders hit Hwy 1 at approximately 10:05 a.m. The Canyon Del Rey area will remain closed until 12 p.m.

If you have any questions regarding street closures or detours within the City of Seaside only, please contact Dave Fortune at 899-6829.
