Breakaway from Cancer Walk Registration

Similar to the support person who helps a cyclist breakaway from the peloton, it takes a strong support network to help a person break away from cancer.

Amgen invites those touched by cancer – patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates – to participate in the 2017 Breakaway Mile, an approximately half- to one-mile walk that honors and celebrates cancer survivors as part of Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer®, a national initiative founded in 2005 to increase awareness of important resources available to people affected by cancer – from prevention through survivorship.

The Breakaway Mile takes place on the Amgen Tour of California race course prior to the day’s professional race finish (or start) in three 2017 host cities – Sacramento, Modesto and Pasadena.

Upon day-of event registration, Breakaway Mile participants will receive special t-shirts to wear during the walk. Gift bags will be distributed after the group walks, and participants are invited to view the race action from a private reserved viewing area near the race finish line.
