Cycling and technology have always powered imaginations and last week’s imaginative holiday video from Team Sky caused a buzz of electricity on social media. The “Oh Watt A Wonderful Christmas” (http://po.st/TeamSkyXmas2015) shoot took months of planning and required a whole lot of clever creativity and ingenuity along with over 1500 watts pedaled simultaneously by former British National Road Race champion Ian Stannard and two-time Amgen Tour of California stage winner Ben Swift to light 5,000 fairy lights wrapped around “painstakingly-positioned bike parts.”
Here's a fun New Year's greeting from 2012 Amgen Tour of California winner Robert Gesink, 2014 ATOC top 10 finisher Laurens ten Dam and a few of their Team LottoNL-Jumbo teammates. http://bit.ly/1wIFfp9
The exhilarating sprint battles between fastmen Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick-Step) and Peter Sagan (Cannondale) at the recent Amgen Tour of California previewed the thrilling high-speed clashes to come during July’s Tour de France. Cav is the world’s fastest man on flatter roads while Sagan, the reigning two-time winner of the green sprint points jersey at Le Tour, excels when the road tilts up making him dangerous on stages that typically break the legs of pure sprinters.
Like most teams in the peloton, Garmin-Sharp is almost always being followed by a video crew to document everything happening behind the scenes to share with fans via social media. Garmin-Sharp created a special California video playlist lensed during their recent adventures throughout the Golden State. Check out the way the team celebrated their victory during the podium ceremony and learn how to make ice socks to help you keep cool on the hot summer days.
